This was delicious. My friend told be this was the best Birria de chivo in LA. I was a bit skeptical but I think I'm going to have to agree with him. Also get yourself a plain quesadilla extra crispy. You won't regret it.

i was asked to try this spot by 1 of my co-workers. usually when i go, i give them my honest opinion about the places i visit. i love smaller family owned businesses because the food is typically authentic. this spot not only gave me small restaurant hometown vibes, but the food gave me the explosion that i look for when i'm eating mexican food. the hostess greated me as soon as i walked in with a huge beautiful smile. she let me know what the specials dish was and then began to ask me if i was familiar with birrieria was. i told her yes and she let me know this was the real deal authentic birrieria (goat). i really appreciate how delicate the young lady was with ensuring and securing my order. this meant a lot because i could tell walking into a mexican food restaurant as a 6'4 black male some places have just let me order and not took the extra time to make me feel like i knew exactly what i was getting so that my meal was made just for me. once my food came she secured my order once again to ensure that everything was made to perfection. the service was top teir and i loved it. the chef even came out to ensure that my food was to perfection. i ordered 2 birrieria tacos and a birrieria quesadilla. let me tell you! the combination of homemade/handmade tortillas and real birrieria had my tastebuds going loco! hahaha. the food was so good i cleaned my plates and ordered more to go. i told them i'd be back and i most definitely will. thank you all once again! muy amable!

I landed here for my first visit on Jun 18, 2022 with an old buddy who lived nearby and we both ordered birria de chivo bone-in served in a bowl and 1 even taken to go for home (white dishware). I revisited on Nov 5, 2023 bringing my friend from San Antonio to share the same lovely experience I had but opted for birria de chivo bone in served on a plate. In my pictures and videos you will see the different options between the two. The red salsa is pinpoint on the balance of hot and flavor with a generous serving of onions, cilantro, line, and tortillas hechas a mano which the staff will gladly refill. The restaurant is reminiscent of Mexico where there's no menu, just simply a few options provided by the family staff exactly how I experienced it in Mexico myself. There's decent seating in this smaller corner establishment and lovely music playing the whole time. When you sit in here and look around at your guests and the interior, you can only wonder how legitimate and refreshing their historic birria de chivo truly is. The reason why I say refreshing is because birria de res largely influenced by TJ and nowadays Mexican American culture is indeed delicious but is admittingly overpowering and a grease pit of consume that isn't the best to fully drink unless you've had enough to drink before in the night. Meanwhile, birria de chivo has layers of balanced flavor that takes extremely diligent technique to pull of vs birria de res and is perfect as breakfast whether you drink or not or brunch and you don't feel heavy afterwards but energized and better. This is because goat as a meat in general carries several inherent challenges: 1. The gaminess of goat takes significant amount of preparation work and time to appropriately remove 2. Goat is naturally a lean meat and toughens if you rush it or cook it at too high of a temperature 3. Goat meat carries palates of flavor extremely well but also too well. It can pick up bad palates with a little mistake or miscalculation. Just in hand with challenge #1 if you try to get rid of the gaminess with a salt soak, it can be way too salty. 4. If you make little errors goat can end up dry even when cooked in broth and juices with terrible texture. This place executes with these challenges perfectly. I just have to reiterate how challenging it is to do this and specialize in this and they are perfect with it! Just a reminder, they are cash only! But that's how the best spots that focus on generational taste first are and I love it. Thank you and I will always make this place my regular anytime I'm back in the area.

Always come here the day after any party for the crud lol The cook is really cool, they make the best tacos de cabeza, the consomé is always on point, and that salsa roja literally makes me sweat all the cruda away. They make the best fresh pressed yellow tortillas in Boyle heights and love that its such a friendly environment for anyone that comes in. This is a family business and you literally feel that once you step in through the doors. come by grab a consome and a couple of cabeza tacos and see what you're missing out on. You'll thank me.

If you're looking for something close to a home cooked meal look no further . This place is it. And the handmade tortillas if the icing on the cake. I'm getting hungry just remembering this place gtg.

The food was super delicious. The waitress was very present and the whole staff seemed really nice. I got Plato de Birria and it was marvelous. The hand made tortillas are a great size and great flavor. They also serve a salsa that is really flavorful and spicy. I will definitely come back

I seriously love this place! This is the real deal when it comes to birria de chivo. I've tried several places in LA that offer goat meat birria and none of them compare to this place. I seriously always find myself coming back here lol. Their broth/meat is good quality and the plate is served with handmade tortillas. To top it off the hospitality they offer is great, I always feel at home here! Highly recommend!

This is the definition of a family run, hole in the wall type place. We felt like the lady serving us was our grandmother. She didn't speak much English and we don't speak much Spanish, but we got by (granddaughter? was also helpful with communication). Very humble establishment with no decor. Indoor basic tables and chairs seating. There was no menu available so she just told us what they had. Obviously we wanted goat birria, coming to a birrieria, so went with birria tacos. I think it was $5 or $6 for the 2 med/large tacos with consume. Definitely worth it to support a local business serving homemade food (including homemade corn tortillas). It's not a place to go out of your way for, but worth it if you're in the area. This was part of an LA taco tour we did (on our own).
